Troubleshooting Limited Side Clearance When Installing A Slide Out Awning

Question:

The flange to flange measurement is 140-1/2” and there is 3-1/4” on each side to slide box so what you are saying if I a size the brackets would just be more inbound and it would still cover the slide box ? Thanks

The arms of a slide out sit approximately 2.5" past the fabric. The Solera RV Slide-Out Awning # LCV000177334 goes up to 145 so if subtract 140.5 from that you're left with 4.5" that would be divided in two and added to the 2.5" from the arm, which would mean that your awning sticks out roughly 4.75" on each side past your 140.5" measurement.

The # LCV000168328 fits a flange measurement of 134" - 139" so you would only have to worry about the 2.5" on each side which would shrink as well down to 1.75" on each side which would fall within your side clearance. The fabric will be a bit shorter so it most likely will not go past the box and can possibly leave the corners of the box exposed but will cover the vast majority of the box.

You can install the extension rods on arms and hold it up to the slide to see if the inner mounting brackets need to be moved in at all. You'll want to pick up some butyl tape # AL28FJ as well to waterproof the inner mounting brackets. I've attached a video below where I'll walk you through the installation process of a slide out awning.
