How To Power The Brake Buddy Classic III On A Toad Requiring Battery To Be Disconnected
Question:
I am towing a 2021 Chevy Colorado 4X4 behind my motor home. I have wired the Break Buddy according to instructions with the black wire attached to positive battery terminal, ground wire to vehicle frame, and the brown and red wires to break away switch. Everything works fine until I disconnect the negative vehicle terminal wire from the battery as required by GM when towing the truck. When I do this I no longer have power going to the Brake Buddy. Can you give me a solution to this problem?

Expert Reply:
What you're going to need to do with your Brake Buddy Classic 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System # HM39494 is connect the ground wire from the Brake Buddy to the negative terminal on the battery instead of the vehicle's frame.
This should take care of the issue you're having and power your Brake Buddy properly.
