Threshold To Door Clearance Needed To Install MORryde StepAbove RV Steps
Question:
I have an InTech Sol Horizon. The entry door has an aluminum threshold with a 1/2inch elevated lip this lip is slightly above the floor level on the inside on the innermost part. The threshold angles down from this lip to the outside. Exactly what is the measure in step 3? It is the rise from the lowermost/outside part of the aluminum threshold to to top/innermost level? Can you include a drawing for this measure. The steps look perfect for the Horizon if they work with this measure. I may have to cut the lip off and grind it down where the bracket rests just not sure. Step 3: Measure the Threshold Measure the rise of your threshold. The distance between the floor and top of the threshold must be between 5/8inch and 3/4. If the height of your threshold is outside of this range, the doors may not close properly. To allow room for the hinge plate, there must be a gap of at least 3/8inch between the threshold and the bottom of the entry and screen doors. If the gap is too narrow, the doors may not close while the steps are down.

The measurement for your MORryde StepAbove RV Steps # MR86RR would be from the floor to the top of your threshold and the space between your door threshold and door to ensure that the hinge plate will fit between the door and threshold.
With your threshold height being 1/8" smaller you may have some issues clearing the door. If this is the case a lot of people just hammer the plate down a bit to get it to fit the space. This isn't really advised by the manufacturer but is a last resort sort of solution if you just need it to work.
As for the gap between the door and threshold the screen door can typically be trimmed down to accommodate the hinge plate but if the entry door isn't going to clear then you would need to stick with undermounted steps.
