Trailer Wiring Harness for a 2005 Jaguar X-type Sportwagon
Question:
I need to install a wiring kit to operate a 4-pole jet ski trailer. The dealer wants $700 for the wiring kit. Your part # C59496 looks like it does the same thing. Also my sport wagon has a cigarette lighter plug in the back cargo area so I dont have to run a wire to the front battery. Will this kit work since my Jag has a independent 3-wire system.

For a trailer wiring harness, the 4 pole trailer connector, part # C59496 will work on your vehicle.
You'll want to install the wiring harness according to the instructions, which involves running the power feed directly to the positive battery terminal, not the 12-v outlet in the cargo area. Drawing the power directly from the battery keeps your vehicle's electrical system fully isolated from any short circuits that could occur in the trailer wiring.
