Where Should the Slide Be Positioned When Replacing the Idler Head on a Slide Out Awning

Question:

When installing the replacement idler head does the slide out need to be all the way in or out? Any other things I need to know?

I contacted the manufacturer about the proper installation of the Replacement Idler Head and Roll Tube for Solera RV Slide-Out Awning # LC87FR.

It should be installed approximately 5-6 inches away from the side of the camper (slide topper opened 5-6inches). There needs to be 14 turns of tension on each side of the slide topper arms (14 turns counter clockwise on idler side, 14 turns clockwise on drive side).

It is strongly suggested to have a qualified dealer/technician make the repairs due to the high amount of tension the springs are under in the slide out tube.
