Can Rear Hatch on 2007 Acura MDX be Opened with Bikes Loaded on Yakima HoldUp Bike Rack
Question:
Will the Yakima Holdup 2 Bike Rack fit a 2007 Acura MDX? Will the rear hatch clear the bike rack when it is tilted down while oaded with bikes?

On the trailer hitches we have installed on the Acura MDX the average distance from the center of the hitch pin hole back to clear the rear bumper is 4 to 5 inches. The Yakima HoldUp, # Y02443, sticks out further than that so it will clear the rear bumper and fit the vehicle.
You will most likely need to remove the closest bike to the vehicle in order to open the rear hatch with the rack tilted. But I do know a bike rack that will work and allow you to open the rear hatch with bikes loaded. Take a look at the Thule T2, # TH83JV. This is a similar rack to the HoldUp.
I recommend going with the T2 since it will allow you to open the hatch with the bikes loaded. Sweet!
