Troubleshooting 1 Of 4 Brake Assemblies Locking Up On Tandem Axle Travel Trailer Camper
Question:
I have a 19 ft tandem axel camper with 4 wheel electric brakes. The camper has been towed only about 1,000 miles. When I apply the brakes the rear brake on the drivers side lock up while the other three work fine. The brakes have been adjusted and I was told everything checked out just fine. It has been suggested that the problem could be with the brake controller. Could the controller cause just one brake to lockup, if not, what would you recommend?

Helpful Expert Reply:
A brake controller will not cause one brake to lock up while the other 3 work fine. The common causes for this is the brake assembly not being adjusted correctly or a damaged part inside the brake assembly. Since you mentioned that the brakes are adjusted properly the issue may be a bad Brake Magnet # BP01-225. I have linked an article below that will help you test your magnet to determine if that is the issue. Do note that different brakes have different magnets.
You can also pull off both hubs on the side that is locking up to determine if you see anything missing or different with the assemblies that would cause the brake to lock up easier than the others.
