Troubleshooting No Trailer Braking When Driving In Town with Curt Echo Brake Controller
Question:
I continue to have trouble connecting my brake controller. I have to cancel in bluetooth and reset and then set the password code. Today however once it was connected pressed middle and blue activated I noticed that when I applied the brakes no blue showed. I was driving in town so not sure whether or not brakes were working even though I had no trouble stopping.

The Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 is a proportional controller with an inertia sensor, meaning it only applies power to the trailer brakes if it senses your rig is slowing down quickly enough to warrant your trailer brakes. Another factor is the sensitivity setting in the app. If you have this turned down significantly then that will also play a factor.
What I recommend doing is taking your whole rig to an empty parking lot and practicing with some different settings to see if it starts operating the way you'd like it to.
