Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited JL w/ a Roadmaster Falcon 5250 Tow Bar

Question:

I have a Roadmaster Falcon 5250 with cross bar that was used on a 1999 Jeep Wrangler Sahara. IM wondering if I could use it on my 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited JL no wench. If so what base plate or parts would I need to use it? Also I really hated the way the cross bar was so obtrusive on the 1999 Im looking for a more seamless look. If possible can you direct me to pictures of what others have used. Thank you.

We have what you need to have a cleaner appearance on your 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited JL. You will want to use the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-521453-5 which uses a direct connect attachment style which eliminates the crossbar that you did not like to see. I contacted the manufacturer and they verified that the Roadmaster Falcon 5250 can be used with the direct connect base plate kit.

I have attached a video that goes over an installation of the base plate kit and shows what it would look like when hooked up. I have listed some of the other parts required for flat towing below in case you need those for your 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited JL as well.

- Safety Cables: Roadmaster 80" Hybrid Coiled-to-Straight Safety Cables # RM-674

- Tow Bar Wiring: Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit # RM-152-1676-7

- Supplemental Braking System: Blue Ox Patriot Radio Frequency, Portable Braking System # BLU37TR

The manufacturer also informed me that the Roadmaster Falcon 5250 is a 5,000 lb. tow bar that has been discontinued. So if you end up needing a higher rated tow bar or replacement part, you will be better served to upgrade your tow bar to a tow bar like the Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-522.
