Will Demco Stay-IN-Play DUO w/ Coachlink Monitor Braking System on 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
Question:
We have a 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited that we plan to flat tow with a Ready Brute Elite 2 tow bar and NSA Ready Stop Emergency Breakaway Kit that I have already installed. We are trying to determine if the Demco SBS Wireless Coachlink system will work for us to monitor the brakes in the towed vehicle. Do we need to also install a brake switch, and if so which units would work best and are easiest to install with the Demco Coachlink system? Thanks for your assistance.

Good questions, and the answer is yes, the Stay-N-Play DUO with the Coachlink will allow you to monitor the brakes on your 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited as it is being flat towed, and you'll also need a brake light switch. As far as the best one, there is a switch from Roadmaster which is designed specifically for your Jeep, so here is exactly what you'll need:
- Demco Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System with Wireless Coachlink Monitor # DM86VR
- Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751490
The Coachlink monitor of the # DM86VR simply plugs into a 12 volt port in your motorhome and lights up when the brakes in your Jeep are applied. It also has an audible indicator as a secondary notification but if you are fine with just getting the light-up notification when your Jeep's brakes apply, there is a button on the back of the monitor so you can very easily turn off the audible indicator.
Apart from just being able to monitor your Jeep's braking, the Stay-IN-Play is an exceptional braking system because it gives your Jeep braking proportional to that of your motorhome. So when you hit the brakes on your motorhome, your Jeep is going to get the same amount of braking power, resulting in much smoother braking than other systems.
Finally, I also wanted to mention I do recommend a charge wire kit just to ensure your Jeep's battery stays fully charged. While not technically necessary for your Jeep, it's a good idea to ensure the battery is fully maintained, and all you'd need is the Towed Vehicle Battery Charge Wire Kit # DM66VR.
