Availability to Extend Distance Of Trailer Hitch For Towing a Toy Hauler Without Using an Adapter
Question:
I tow a toy hauler. I would like to be able to open my tailgate while hooked up to the trailer. I see hitch extenders reduce the capacity of the hitch. Is there a way to increase the length by at least 3inch but still allow me to pull my trailer as normal?

If you are using a weight distribution hitch we have an Extended Weight Dist Shank # EQ90-02-4600. This shank is 6" longer than typical shanks that are included with a weight distribution hitch. It is 14" from the center of the receiver hitch pin hole to the center of the mounting holes for the weight distribution head. You will need to verify that your vertical bolt holes are 3/4" in diameter and have a 1-1/4" incremental height measurement.
We also have the Brophy Ball Mount for 2" Hitch # BH20 if you are not using a weight distribution hitch. This ball mount is 13-1/4" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball mount hole. A typical ball mount is around 8-9" but be sure to measure yours to ensure you get the length you need.
If you feel neither of these will work for you or have different measurements, please give me that information and I can help find your best solution.
