Plug-In Brake Controller For 2016 Land Rover Range Rover Sport w/ Factory Tow Package
Question:
I read in the Q&A here that I would need a wireless brake controller for my 2016 range rover sport hse. Does that only apply to the vehicles without the factory tow package? I have confirmed that I do have the factory tow package but I cannot find the adapter for the brake controller to factory plug under the dash.

There is one option for a plug-in brake controller option for your 2016 Land Rover Range Rover Sport with the factory tow package. The adapter for the brake controller will be under the dash, and you'll have to remove the lower dash panel and look behind the brake pedal. It is tucked up in there pretty good, so you'll need a small flashlight to find it, but it will be there.
Then, what you'll need is a brake controller from Redarc, along with the plug-in harness, and I confirmed this fit with Redarc for you:
- Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller # RED44FR
- Plug-and-Play Wiring Harness for Redarc Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controllers # RED87FR
Aside from just fitting your Range Rover Sport, I really like the Tow-Pro Elite because of its control knob which keeps a cumbersome unit out of your cab, and because it gives you more control over your trailer braking power than any other brake controller.
The reason for that is it has two braking modes, the standard proportional control, which powers your trailer brakes with the same intensity as your vehicle brakes, or user-controlled mode, which allows you to apply the brakes with a pre-set amount of power your choosing.
