Troubleshooting 7-Way Connectors On 2013 Ford F-250 Not Working Without Additional Grounding Wire
Question:
I installed the 7 way in bed plug on my 2013 F-250. Now when I plug into either of the sockets bed or bumper the only way I get anything to work is if I add extra ground by using a set of jumper cables between the trailer and the truck.

It sounds like your Hopkins Endurance 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness # 41157 or similar kit may have a damaged ground wire connection. Since this plugs into your factory connectors on your 2013 Ford F-250 the easiest way to determine if the issues is with the additional harness is to remove it from the system.
You can connect the factory connection directly to the factory 7-way and test that connection with one of your trailers. If everything works without a jumper you know that the ground wire on your additional harness is damaged and will need fixed/replaced. If you still have the same issue the ground wire on your F-250 is damaged or pushed out of one of the connectors. Follow the connectors and check the pins to ensure none are damaged or missing.
