Lowest Profile Roof Rack For 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee w/ Flush Mount Rails For Rooftop Tent

Question:

Im planning to install the Rhino-Rack RVP Roof Rack for Fixed Mounting Points - Vortex Aero Crossbars - Aluminum on my 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Will these work with a Roof Top Tent weighing 125 lbs? The rails are rated at 149 lbs, but do not know if that is dynamic or static, or each?

The lowest profile roof rack that fits your 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee with flush mounted rails (note: the rails should have a metal strip on top and not just be black plastic) and is compatible with a rooftop tent is from Rhino-Rack, and consists of the following parts:

- Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars # RRVA126B-2

- RCL Legs # RRRCL4

- Custom RCP Fit Kit # RRRCP27-BK

This rack is very low profile because it measures just under 4 inches from your Jeep's roof to the top of the crossbar. Not only that, but Rhino-Rack is easily the best overall value for a roof rack due to its combination of quality and cost relative to other racks. It's quality is equal to similar brands, but at a better price point because you aren't paying extra for a specific brand name printed on the crossbars.

So this is going to be the best overall option for you to carry a rooftop tent on your Jeep like the Thule Tepui Foothill Rooftop Tent # TH37HJ or Yakima SkyRise HD Tent # Y07436.

The maximum load capacity of 149 lbs is the dynamic capacity of the Rhino-Rack RVP Roof Rack for Fixed Mounting Points - Vortex Aero Crossbars # RRRVP27. So the rack technically does have the needed capacity for a rooftop tent of 125 lbs, but you'll just want to make sure the tent you have is rated for use with a roof rack that has a dynamic capacity less than 165 lbs, as most tents, like the pair I mentioned above, require a rack with a dynamic capacity of 165 lbs.
