Comparing B&W Turnover Ball For Companion 5TH Wheel Hitch Versus Factory Prep/Puck System
Question:
Is there any disadvantage going with with this setup and a companion hitch vs the factory pucks and a companion hitch? Adding the factory pucks is about half the price vs this option. I see that the hitch is heavier vs the companion puck hitch. The only other thing is four points of latching vs the one on this b and w? I would only be towing fifth wheel, no gooseneck Thanks

With the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # BWGNRK1320 you will use the B&W Companion Slider Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter # BWRVK3400 on your 2022 Ram 2500 with the 6-1/2' bed. The benefit of this hitch is it can be used on any truck that uses the B&W Turnover ball. Do note that this single point connection cannot be used with a pivoting pin box like the Reese Sidewinder # RP34FR. In the event you do tow a gooseneck in the future a 4" Offset Ball # BWGNXA4085 can be used to gain you additional turning clearance with the trailer.
If you go with the factory puck system you will need the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider for Ram Towing Prep Package # BWRVK3670. This hitch will only fit the current Ram puck mounts so you will not be able to use it with anything but a Ram truck with the factory puck system.
The Hopkins Endurance 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness # 41157 will allow you to add a 7-way in your bed so you do not risk damaging your 7-way when stretching the connector to the bumper.
