How To Remove The Head Of A B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch

Question:

I installed this hitch barely a year ago. Took one 1500 mile trip and two 100 milers as well. I have been unable to remove the hitch head even with the help of some fairly beefy dudes. We were following the directions provided in our removal attempts. Any suggestions?

If you haven't already you'll want to pull the pins that connect head of your B&W Companion # BWRVK3600 to the base. From there you'll be able to lift the head off of the pivot arms by pulling up on the handles with rubber grips on each side of the hitch.

If not, then your hitch might have some internal issue since the locking mechanism for the handles is not releasing and you'll want to reach out to B&W for a warranty claim.

The head only weighs approximately 70lbs so you should be able to easily lift it off of the base with the help of some beefy dudes.
