Can Axle Weight Rating be Increased with Upgraded Leaf Springs and Hubs

Question:

I have a triple axel trailer. The axles are 5 lug 2 inch thick And rated for 3500 lb. If I change the springs and upgrade the hub to 6lug will that make the axle 5200 lb?

To upgrade your axles to a 5,200 lb weight rating you'll have to swap out your 3,500 lb axles for 5,200 lb axles like part # e55SR that comes with electric brakes and has 95" hub-face and 80" spring-center measurements.

Unfortunately you have to upgrade everything to get the higher weight rating as the axle tube itself will need to be stronger. And even after you upgrade the axles it doesn't necessarily mean your trailer can handle more as the trailer frame is also a factor when it comes to your trailer weight rating.

So you can definitely upgrade your axles, springs, and hubs to a higher weight rating but you'll still need to stand by the weight rating assigned to the trailer from the manufacturer. I've linked out selection of 5,200 lb axles for you to filter through if the hub-face and spring-center measurements don't match up with what you have.
