Yes, per the online owner's manual I found, your 2020 Chevy Equinox can indeed be flat towed behind a motorhome with all four wheels on the ground. To do so, you're going to need a number of parts, which are the following:
- Base Plate Kit: Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-523193-5
- Tow Bar: Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-522
- Safety Chains: RoadMaster 64" Double Hook, Straight Safety Cables # RM-646
- Wiring Kit (For LED Tail Lights): Roadmaster Smart Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Wiring Kit for Variable Voltage LED Tail Lights # RM38FR
or
- Wiring Kit (For Incandescent Tail Lights): Roadmaster Smart Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Wiring Kit for Variable Voltage Incandescent Tail Lights # RM26FR
- Towed Vehicle Battery Charge Wire Kit for Demco Supplemental Braking Systems # DM66VR
- Supplemental Braking System: Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # DM86VR
The Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plates are great because they have removable tabs which means your Equinox is going to keep its clean look when you aren't flat towing. For the Falcon tow bar, I really like it because it has long arms which improve your turning radius, making it easier to maneuver. It also has cable guides on the outside of the arms for a clean, simple way to keep your safety cables and wires organized.
The Charge Wire Kit is needed to keep your Equinox's battery charged when it is being towed, and the wiring kits wiring kits are designed for the type of wiring in your Equinox, so you'll just need to know if you have LED or incandescent tail lights. As for the braking system, the Stay-IN-Play DUO is by far the best option becasue it gives you braking proportional to that of your motorhome. So when you hit the brakes on your motorhome, your Equinox is going to get the same amount of braking power, resulting in much smoother braking than other systems.
