Recommended Brake Controller For A 2019 Subaru Ascent
Question:
So we just had a factory trailer hitch installed on a 2019 Subaru Ascent. The hitch included a 4-pin and 7-pin connector at the hitch. It also included a wiring harness that the mechanic put in the glove box. The car is rated to tow 5000 lbs. The mechanic told my wife she does not need a brake controller. I think if she tows anything with electric brakes she should have a brake controller and Im pretty sure thats what the wiring harness in the glove box is for. what do you folks recommend. Im thinking about the Redarc ProTow.

When it comes to installing a trailer brake controller in your 2019 Subaru Ascent The Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller - 2 Braking Modes - 1 to 3 Axles - Proportional # RED44FR and The Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers - Dual Plug In # 3062-P is a great choice for your vehicle.
The Redacrc controller's main unit will be set up in an out-of-the-way spot, and the control knob will be set up on your dash which allows for a fast and easy adjustment of braking power with the turn of the dial. The controller automatically adjusts the trailer's braking based on deceleration of the towed vehicle. The system can be mounted at any angle and will still accurately sense the deceleration of your vehicle.
The harness # 3062-P plugs into the connector located beneath your vehicle's dashboard and left of the steering column, taped to another harness near the emergency brake pedal. There you will find a 4-pin connector that mates with the adaptor.
