No Power To Curt Echo Brake Controller On 2007-2013 GMC Sierra/Chevy Silverado
Question:
2011 Chevy Silverado 1500 hooked up to a brand new Kaufman gooseneck trailer. All trailer lights function correctly when hooked up to the trailer without the Echo. When I plug in the Echo to set it up I get no light on the Echo indicating no power. The trailer is hooked up, truck running and in tow mode. I have removed and cleaned what I believe is the ground wire and have removed the back of the 7 pin plug on the pickup and cleaned with contact spray and dielectric grease. If I plug the Echo into my car I get a flashing blue light which tells me the Echo is ok. The book says says if no power possibly bad ground but my trailer lights wouldnt work if I had a bad ground correct? Thanks.

The Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180 receives power from the battery charge line circuit also known as the auxiliary power. This is a wire that is ran from the trailer connector to the battery battery which has some sort of fuse protection in-between. If you don't have power to the controller then you likely have a fault on this circuit, it actually has nothing to do with the actual trailer lights.
I know of a certain issue on 2007-2013 GM trucks where this wire still needs attached under the hood so look over our help article attached below to see if yours is affected.
