We can get you everything you need to go from hydraulic drum brakes to an electric over hydraulic set up for your trailer and 2005 GMC Sierra 2500. You'll need an EOH actuator, breakaway kit, and brake controller that is compatible with an EOH set up. First, for the actuator and breakaway kit you'll need the following:
- Dexter DX Series Electric Over Hydraulic Brake Actuator for Drum Brakes # K71-650
- Bright Way Push-to-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit # 3802311
Then for the brake controller & harness for your '05 Sierra that is compatible with an EOH set up, the best controller is from Tekonsha:
- Curt Assure Trailer Brake Controller # C49UR
- Curt Custom Wiring Adapter # C51352
If your truck has the factory 7-way, you're all set up and don't need anything else for the brake controller. But if you don't have the 7-way, you'll need one of two harness. If you have no connector at all, there will be loose wires above the spare, and you would need to hardwire in the Pollak 7-Pole, RV-Style Trailer Connector Socket w/ Wiring Harness # PK11898.
Or, if your truck has a round plug with a cap instead of a bundle of wires above the spare tire, use part # 30955.
