Bike Rack and Hitch Recommendation for 2005 Pontiac G6 for 2 Bikes

Question:

Could you recommend a class two hitch/ hitch bike rack carrier for a 2005 pontiac G6? Which hitch/Swagman XC or XTC carrier combo would work for clearance between car bumper and bike pedal? Will be carrying a 2013 Trek FX 7.3 Hybrid and a 2013 Trek Verve 3. Thanks for any recommendations.

I would recommend the Draw-Tite Class II, part # 36426. When we installed it on a 2008 G6, we found that the distance from the receiver hitch pin hole to the furthest rearward point of the rear bumper was about 6 inches.

The Swagman XTC2 you mentioned, part # S64670 has a distance of 8 inches from the hitch pin hole in the shank to the edge of the closest wheel hoop. Since the shank is angled to provide a 3 inch rise, the pedals of your bike should be well above the rear bumper so the closest pedal will not contact the vehicle.

The XTC2 is an excellent rack that would be a good choice for the bikes you mentioned. I much prefer it over the XC, because of its sturdier wheel hoops. I would also recommend the locking hitch pin and cable lock combo, part # S64031.
