The base of the # SL716 Spring latch to the center line of the pin measures exactly 13/16 of an inch, as you can see in the diagram I have edited for you.

I went out to the warehouse to measure the Bolt-On Zinc Spring Latch Item #SL716 for you. With the pin pulled all the way out (spring fully compressed) it measures approximately 4-7/8 inches from the outside of the bracket to the end of the loop.…

Thanks for the pictures of your horse trailer's rear door. The part #2212 will work as a replacement for the hinges that you have. We have spring latches too like the part #SL716SS as well but do not have door seals.

I went and pulled a Bolt-On Stainless Steel Spring Latch #SL716SS from our warehouse and measure the dimension you are looking for and found it to be 1-7/8 inches. See the pic I attached, I added the dimension to the picture you submitted

Actually on brake magnets for trailers either wire can be used as the power or the ground so the colors don't really mean anything. Most likely the magnet manufacturer just put what ever color was most convenient on your trailer.

Most likely the new axle has self-adjusting brakes which when new are known for feeling pretty weak. The good news is that you can keep applying them over and over while the trailer is traveling and they will tighten and get more sensitive feeling.
