Depending on the capacity of the vehicle, the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver item # DT38MR, can be either a class III or IV. This hitch fits Durango's from 2011-2021 and multiple models of Jeep Grand Cherokee's from 2011-2022 including a diesel. It looks like your 2017 Dodge Durango has a 6,200 to 7,400 lbs capacity, depending on the trim package you have. You will want to check your owners manual or call the dealership and give them your VIN to confirm. Just because the hitch has that capacity does not mean your vehicle does. I have linked an installation video below of this hitch being put on a 2018 Durango.
If you need a ball mount, I recommend the Curt Towing Starter Kit for 2" Hitches item # C45534. This towing kit will provide you with a 2" ball and a fixed ball mount with a 3/4" rise and 2" drop. It also includes a hitch pin and clip, hitch receiver lock with keys, hitch cover, and a storage case.
