Does the Malone Cargo12 # MPG901 Fit Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars?
Question:
Hi, Ive seen the specs of both and I felt the bar and the clamps of the box were kind of at the limits, would the clamps fit the vortex bars ?

Expert Reply:
While we do have a great cargo box that is compatible with the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars # RRVA126B-2, the 3-1/8" width of the crossbars are slightly too large to fit the Malone Cargo12 # MPG901. This is because the Cargo12 can only fit crossbars up to 3 inches wide.
If you are looking for a great economical choice that is compatible, I recommend using the Trunx Rooftop Cargo Carrier - 9 cu ft # TRX44FR. The Trunx box fits crossbars up to 3--3/4" wide x 1-3/16" tall which are perfect for the Vortex Aero crossbars. In order to mount this cargo box, you need to have a crossbar spread of either 22 inches or 30 inches (requires drilling for this spread).
If you do not want to sacrifice space, I recommend going with the Inno Box 2020 Rooftop Cargo Box - 14 cu ft - Matte Black # IN86FR. Since this box is compatible with crossbars up to 3-1/2 inches wide x 1-3/8 inches tall, it also works with the Vortex Aeros.
For recommendations of a full crossbar system, feel free to respond with the year/make/model of your vehicle and I will be happy to point you in the right direction.
