Solution for Curt Q20 Fifth Wheel Hitch with Loud Clunking from Jaws

Question:

Im getting mixed and contradictory reviews about these 2 heads. I own a Q20 but get a clunking noise pin slop?, every time I start or stop. I looks like the A20 has better jaws but then it doesnt have the 360 degree movement? Some of your experts recommend the a20 while others the q20. Which head will be quieter and which head will have a better attachment to the RV pin?

Since the jaws of your Q20 can't be adjusted or replaced your best solution is going to be a new hitch like with the Curt A20 part # C16140 which is the newer version of what you have now which has a much tighter jaw design that will be quieter and last longer. Instead of the two jaw pieces coming together and just touching each other in the middle the A20 jaw has two pieces that lock together.

The A20 does have a better jaw design and will allow for less noise and slop like you mentioned. It is the updated version of the Q20 that you have and will be in improvement. It doesn't have the same bearing setup but it does allow for enough movement from front to back and side to side to work well. They got rid of the 360 setup due to it not being as durable as they would have liked. The A20 will connect better and will be quieter for sure.
