Will Removing Heat Shield to Install Hitch on 2020 Hyundai Sonata Cause Damage to Vehicle
Question:
2020 hyundai hitch means take off the heat shield so what is consequence of not having heat shield on car?

Expert Reply:
The heat shield needs to be removed in order to install the Draw-Tite # DT74MR on your 2020 Hyundai Sonata because it prevents the hitch from being in direct contact with the mounting surface on the underside of the vehicle.
The good news is that the steel the hitch is constructed of will serve the same purpose as the heat shield, which is to isolate the vehicle underbody from the heat generated by the exhaust. In other words, removing the heat shield to install the hitch will not have any negative effect on your Sonata.
If you're planning on doing some light-duty towing with the hitch, you'll also need a trailer wiring harness like part # TK97FR, a ball mount like # 3593 and a hitch ball like # 19256 for a 1-7/8 or # 19258 for a 2 inch ball.
