Is Battery Isolator Needed On 2008 Ford F250 With Trailer Tow Pkg
Question:
The 7 way connector is only hot with the key on. Am I correct in thinking that it charges the trailer batteries when the seven way is connected and the trailer is on? Do I also need an isolator or is that part of the ford trailer tow. In other words, if the 7 way is only hot with the key on, how can I drain the starter battery with the key off?

Since your 7-way connector is only hot when the key is turned on, a battery isolator solenoid would not be necessary. Since this is not the case with all vehicles, it may be good practice to unplug the trailer from the vehicle when not being used.
