What Allows The Roadmaster Even Brake To Communicate With My Motorhome?
Question:
Question, I am using all Roadmaster products setting up a 2016 Chevy Equinox AWD. My last toad was a Ford Edge. I have a Roadmaster Even Brake RM-9400. Using Roadmasters recommendations, I installed Brake light switch RM-751489 and wired it as outlined in the instructions. In my old toad, I had to install Brake light Relay RM-88400. I do not see that required for my new car. My question is - how is the Even brake going to sense the motorhome braking if I am not using the Brake light relay? Does it only work as a proportional system? There is no wiring from the motor home brake system going to the ICX monitor. I just want to make sure I have this installed correctly. Thanks again for your help.

In order for your Roadmaster Even Brake Portable Supplemental Braking System # RM-9400 to work with your 2016 Chevrolet Equinox AWD, you'll also need to install the 12 Volt Outlet Kit, 20 amps # RM-9332, as well as the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751439.
The Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751439 is what is going to allow your Even Brake System # RM-9400 in your toad, to communicate with your motorhome.
The other piece of the puzzle is the 12-Volt kit # RM-9332, which is needed to provide the necessary 20 amps of power for your Even Brake system. The typical 12-volt cigarette outlet in your car puts out around 10 amps, which is not enough power.
After these components are installed, you'll be all set to use your Even Brake system in your 2016 Chevrolet Equinox AWD. If you have any further questions, feel free to reach back out.
Included are a couple of installation videos for # RM-9332 & # RM-751439 for you to check out.
