How do I Grease and Pack a Replacement Bearing?

Hi, I installed some bearings that my dad bought from you on his camper. After one trip, I removed the hubs to inspect them and the brakes, and the bearing seals inner plastic seals are falling apart, to the point that the seal spring is even dislodged on a couple of them. I just want to know what I did wrong. I used the bearing press hand tool and made the seal flush with the hub. In a video on your site, I noticed that they hammered it past flush, I guess till it stopped but they didnt say much about it. Any ideas? Thank you!

I am sorry to hear about your dad's bearings!

From the sounds of the issue, given that you have the correct bearing size, there may be a couple factors with your bearings. First off, even with a bearing press like the # PTW1218, it is still entirely possible that all of bearing cylinders di not receive grease. This sometimes can happen if you do not turn the bearings so that every component is adequately covered. I recommend greasing the bearings by hand to prevent this issue.

Secondly, you are correct that the bearing should be flush with the seal. However, it is super important to make sure that the bearing is flush completely flat and even without any uneven angles or protrusions. After this is done, it is also important to grease the spindle before reattaching.
