There could be a number of reasons your Atwood G6A-8E water heater is not heating the water properly.
It could be because:
-The By-pass kit valves not set properly. What you'll want to do is put the valves in the proper position. The main purpose of the water heater bypass valve is that it prevents anti-freeze from going into the heater tank when winterizing your RV water lines, so this could be causing the issue you're having.
-The thermostat is not seated properly against the tank. To fix this, simply reseat the thermostat properly against your tank.
-Finally, if everything else checks out, then you may just have a defective thermostat, and at that point you'd just need to replace your thermostat.
Additionally, since your Atwood G6A-8E water heater is no longer available the replacement parts may be difficult or expensive to come by. It may be worth just to upgrade your existing unit.
