Can a Padlock be Placed on the End of Standard Trailer Hitch Pin # C21500

Question:

The picture of your hitch pin shows a cotter pin to hold it. Someone could still steal the hitch cap that you paid good money for. Is the hole in the hitch pin big enough for a padlock? Thank you.

Expert Reply:

The hole in the hitch pin # C21500 or any other standard hitch pin with clip is not large enough for a useful padlock. It would take a very small lock that could be defeated easily.

That is why for a more secure option we carry locking hitch pins. The most popular locking hitch pin for a 2 inch trailer hitch (5/8 inch diameter) is # e98880. I have included a link to a video review of this locking hitch pin for you to view. I have also included a link to the other locking hitch pins we carry for 2 inch hitches.
