2020 Mazda CX-5 Roof Rack and Kayak Carrier Recommendation for 2 Kayaks

Question:

HI - I have a Mazda CX5 no side rails or crossbars yet and want to carry 2x WILDERNESS SYSTEMS PUNGO 120 KAYAKs: Length: 12 foot 2 inch 371 cm Weight: 49 lbs 22 kg Width: 29 inch 74 cm I was looking at Factory Installed rails and crossbars and 2x Malone SeaWing Kayak Carriers. Would this be feasible? Other suggestions? Ive heard the J Racks may be worse for wind so have not been looking at those but am interested in your thoughts. Thanks

I recommend going with the Rhino-Rack Vortex roof rack system for your 2020 Mazda CX-5. This gives you 46" long crossbars so you'll have to offset the Malone SeaWing # MPG107MD but it will still work. Here are the parts you need for this system:

46" Vortex Crossbars # RRVA118B-2
RCL Legs - # RRRCL4
RCP Fit Kit - # RRRCP48-BK

You can definitely go with the OEM roof rack system if you want but in my experience the OEM crossbars are typically a bit more flimsy or they might lack the T-Slot channel on the top that some accessories require.
