Will the Tekonsha Primus IQ Brake Controller # TK90160 Replace the Sentinel Brake Controller # 9055
Question:
I have a 99 F250 Super Duty. Currently have a Tekonsha Sentinel brake control #9055. Looking to upgrade to the TK90160. I assume this control will work with my truck. Does it also come with instructions as to how to set the controls? I find the 9055 a real pain to set. Thanks

You can certainly replace your Sentinel brake controller with the Primus IQ brake controller, # TK90160. The Primus will come with instructions for setting the brake sensitivity. I have also attached a link to the installation instructions for you to check out.
I believe the Sentinel did not come with a plug and play harness, so it may be hardwired to the truck. The Primus IQ comes with a universal wiring harness that you can splice into the wires currently connecting your Sentinel brake controller.
There is a plug and play adapter for the 1999 Ford F-250 if it came with a 7-way trailer connector at the rear, but the plug and play harness may not work properly if the Sentinel was hardwired. If the Sentinel was hardwired, the previous installer likely cut the factory brake output wire at the 7-way trailer connector that was originally connecting the factory brake controller port under the dash to the 7-way trailer connector.
It may be easier to simply cut the wires connecting the Sentinel and splicing the universal harness from the Primus IQ to the wires that are already present.
