Solution for Powering Air Compressor With 7-Way

Question:

Hi I would like to utilize the available 12v power from the 7pin plug to run my air compressor. The compressor I have uses clips to connect to the battery. I feel like this style is more flexible in using but I mostly use it in my 2006 toyota tacoma and would like to make it where I dont need to open the hood to use. What set up can be used to do this. Would the plug be ok to use. I believe my compressor uses 25amp. It has a 30 amp fuse on it. Or is it better to run a line of the battery. If so what do I need to do that? Thanks

You can use the Pollak 7-Way to 12 Volt Power Outlet Adapter # PK11896 but you will need to switch out the connector on your air compressor. You will need to find a male cigarette plug that is rated the same or higher.

If you decide to run a line from your battery you will want to use the same gauge wire that your compressor uses. The largest size we carry is 10 gauge # 10-1-1. Once you run the wire you can use the Dutton-Lainson Electrical Quick Connect for DC StrongArm SA Series and TW9000 Electric Winches # DL24085. This will give you a way to plug and unplug your air compressor at the rear of your vehicle.

I have attached some review videos for your reference.
