Folding Cargo Carrier Recommendation for a 1999 Chevrolet Tracker with a Rear Mount Spare Tire
Question:
My Chevy Tracker has an exterior spare tire munterd on the door which swings open from left to right. Can a folding cargo carrier be used with this door and tire set up? I just installed a 2inch Curt Tow Bar on ny Tracker which I purchased last week. If a folding cargo carrier can not be used with my Tracker what cargo carrier do you recommend?

When choosing a cargo carrier for your 1999 Chevrolet Tracker with a rear mounted spare tire, you will want to find one important measurement. You will want to find the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the rearmost part of your spare tire. This will tell us how much clearance you will need to clear the spare tire. I have attached a photo showing where to take this measurement.
Two cargo carriers that may work for you are the Pro Series 20 x 48 inch Cargo Carrier, # 6502, which provides 7-1/2 inches of clearance from the hitch pin hole when folded up. We also offer the Etrailer 24 x 60 Inch Cargo Carrier, # e98874. This carrier offers 9-1/2 inches of clearance when folded and a tilting feature that you can use while loaded. These carriers offer the greatest amount of clearance when the carrier is folded up.
If you can tell me the clearance that your Tracker requires, I will be happy to give you a more specific recommendation.
