Is a Class II Trailer Hitch Needed to Carry E-Bikes On a 2014 VW Jetta

Question:

Im looking to add a EBike rack to my 2014 Jetta. I can find a Hollywood bike rack with a 1 1/4inch hitch but it needs to be rated for Type 2. All the hitches I see are type 1 and the Hollywood documentation says a Type 1 will not work. The Hollywood model is a HR1560 and will take a type 1 1/4inch or a 2inch hitch. Do you have a solution?

I do have an option for you but there are only class I trailer hitch options for a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta like the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11474 which is what I recommend. Therefore, you'll need to look into different bike rack options like the Saris Freedom Bike Rack for 2 Bikes part # SA4412B which is class I rated and can hold bikes up to 60 lbs. It only weighs 22.5 lbs so it's easy to get on and off.
