How to Determine the Correct Replacement Landing Gear for a 2008 Forest River Wildwood 5th Wheel
Question:
I have a 2008 forest river wildwood sport 5th wheel toy hauler camper. I need to repair the landing gear. The off-side, the side away from the jack mechanism for raising and lowering the stands, drive shaft broke where the extension connects to it. I was able to drill a hole in it and thread the screw into the existing shaft, but that wont last for long. I dont know what landing gear are in the camper and I dont see any stickers or data on the gear.

Given the description of your problems, combined with the age and lack of information available for your landing gear your best bet is going to be to replace the landing gear.
To determine the correct replacement landing gear for your 5th wheel trailer, you will need to measure the mounting brackets on your trailer from the underside of the top bracket to the top of the lower bracket as shown in the diagram. From there you will be able to choose the amount of lift and weight capacity that will work for you.
For example, the Stromberg Carlson Electric Landing Gear Set # LG-3 has standard dimensions of 17-1/2" from bracket to bracket, 34-7/8" of lift and a 6,500 lb capacity.
I've added a link to our page with our selection of landing gear for you to take a look at when you determine the correct specs for your 5th wheel.
