Using 12 ga wire is indeed acceptable for installing the Curt # C51180 Echo wireless brake controller, but to protect the power feed circuit you'll want to use a 30A self resetting circuit breaker instead of a fuse. We sell the wire, hardware and breaker in a kit, as part # BRK-ELECKIT. If you already have the wire and hardware, we sell the breaker separately as part # 38630.
