Comparing Curt and etrailer Trailer Hitch Receivers for 2022 Chevy Colorado
Question:
I'm looking at hitches for m 2022 Colorado and I see this Curt hitch and etrailer hitch look like the same thing. Am I missing something here? What is the difference?

The reason the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13176 and etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98909 look the same is because they share the same design. Both are Class III hitches with a 2" receiver and have the same installation process. The capacity is the same as well.
The only real difference between the two is the finish. The etrailer hitch comes with a matte black powder coat finish and is the reason I would choose it over the Curt. This does a better job of hiding dirt and scratches when compared to a glossy finish.
If you plan on doing some towing and need wiring, I recommend the 7-Pole and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Sockets w/ Mounting Bracket and Wiring - Vehicle End # HM40975-11998. This will provide you with both a 4-way and 7-way connection at the back of your truck.
If you need a ball mount, the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900 is a great choice. This kit has two ball mounts, one with a 3/4" rise or 2" drop and the other with a 2-3/4" rise or 4" drop. It also comes with a 1-7/8" and 2" ball, as well as a ball mount bag to store everything in.
I have attached some review and installation videos for your reference.
