Are Hitch Fits for 2021-2022 Subaru Forester and Forester Wilderness Models the Same

Question:

Hi I have a 2022 Subaru Forester Wilderness. The dealership is quoting 4 months from purchase in Jan for hitch availability and charged me 600 dollars for one. My trade in 2021 Subaru Forester Sport had a hitch purchased from you guys. They said it would not fit the new car. Do you have any that fit this new vehicle that do not require me to cut the rear bumper? Thanks so much!

When I've reached out to our hitch manufacturers they said the Wilderness model for the 2022 Subaru Forester and Outback Wagon vehicles won't change how the hitches fit with the vehicle. I'm not sure why the dealer said it won't fit but I trust the guys I spoke with and there isn't a difference in hitch fits for the 2021 Forester and Forester Sport.

Be sure to get new hardware for the installation since hitch hardware is only designed to be torqued to specs once. If it's a hitch that we carry you can find replacement hardware as part # RHK.

If your old hitch is looking rough and you want to replace it I have 2 different recommendations:

I personally like the EcoHitch # 306-X7391 the most since it's the only option with a hidden crosstube. This not only gives the vehicle a cleaner look but it also helps to increase ground clearance since you don't have a piece of metal running the width of your frame.

If you want something a bit more cost-effective then go with the etrailer Hitch Receiver # e83ZR. This does not have the hidden crosstube design but it is the only hitch with the matte black finish that gives it better protection.
