Can Class II Accessories be Used in Curt Class I Trailer Hitch # C11204
Question:
This is a Class I hitch. But the front of the receiver of this hitch has that thick metal that is consistent with a Class II hitch. And the receiver doesnt have the punch that prevents a Class Ii bar from being installed. In general, how is this Class I hitch different from other Class I hitches? Specifically, provided that I pay attention to weight limits, can this hitch be used with a cargo carrier that requires a Class II hitch? Many thanks.

The Curt trailer hitch # C11204 is a Class I trailer hitch. The receiver does have that collar but the hitch does not have that punch in it that will only allow Class I accessories to fit. Even though they would physically go into the hitch, you cannot use a Class II accessory in a Class I trailer hitch. Class I hitches have a lower capacity and needs accessories that is made for it. They could easily be overloaded.
If you are wanting to tow with it be sure to check the vehicle owner's manual first to determine if the vehicle is rated for towing. If it is, then the correct ball mount to use is # 3593. For a 1-7/8 inch ball use # 19256 and for a 2 inch ball use # 19258.
I am not sure the specific vehicle you have but if it is a Honda Civic of the same years that accept this hitch you can use wiring # C56175. I have linked the instructions for the hitch and wiring for you.
