Recommended 5th Wheel Puck System For A 2016 GMC Sierra 2500
Question:
Hi I own a 2016 2500 hd duramax with the short bed. I’m looking to do a puck system with the 5 th wheel hitch in the middle. I may get a new truck in the near future. I’m wondering if someone can reach out and let me know what the best option is. I would like it so if I buy a fifth wheel hitch I have the option to take it with me to my new truck if that what I do. So I want a package that allows me to go the the new gmc diesel truck with the factory puck system. Thanks

The Elite Series Under-Bed Gooseneck Complete Hitch # RP30158-68 is the only way to get a puck system in the bed of your 2016 GMC Sierra 2500 but will come with a gooseneck ball center.
This means you would have to use a 5th wheel hitch that has feet compatible with Ford's puck spacing like the Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Ford Towing Prep Package # RP30921 to be able to tow a 5th wheel trailer. This is honestly a better option just because you'll be able to use the pucks for a 5th wheel and still have a gooseneck ball incase you have to tow a gooseneck trailer and don't want to have to swap out the hitch or buy an adapter.
Because the spacing on the Reese # RP30158-68 is built to Ford's specifications you would need to buy a Ford with the puck system to transfer the hitch or you'll have to replace the legs of the hitch with the Replacement Legs for Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Chevy/GMC # RP30889 whenever you get the new GMC truck with puck system.
