A start capacitor is not needed for the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner to function but The Advent Air Replacement RV Air Conditioner for Dometic Setup, # ACDOM135 comes with one included. The benefit of the start capacitor is that it stores energy to help jumpstart the AC unit for a lower power draw. This is especially helpful when operating off generator power as it lessens the surge. It is an added component that is beneficial but not necessary for function of the AC unit.
