How Do I Ground By Progressive Dynamics Inteli-Power RV Converter

Question:

This converter/charger unit has a separate ground attachment point / lug. I have pos and neg busbars, connected to a 12v lithium battery in my RV. My neg busbar is grounded to the vehicles chassis. My plan is to wire the converter/charger unit to my two busbars pos and neg, but what should I do about the converter/charger units chassis ground lug? Can I just wire it to the neg connection or neg busbar? The manual says not to do that, but it seems all the same to me, whether I wire it directly to the chassis, the neg busbar, or simply to the units neg lug before one wire goes to the neg busbar. Please advise.

Expert Reply:

The Progressive Dynamics Inteli-Power RV Converter and Battery Charger - Lithium - 12V - 60 Amps, part # PD9160ALV, should be grounded to the frame of the trailer. Both the DC negative of your busbar and the negative terminal of your converter will be grounded to your trailer.
