Does Steering Wheel of Vehicle Need to Lock or Unlock when Flat Towed
Question:
I just bought a fixed tow dolly to pull my 2014 Automatic Diesel Chevy Cruze. The steering wheel locks when the ignition is off. I know the steering wheel needs to be unlocked when towing. Is there a way to accomplish this without leaving the ignition on? I have read about the bypass switches and not sure if I could use those or not. Also, I would like to use the Cruze lights when towing. Is there a kit that would allow me to plug into a 7 way plug on a camper to make this easy? Thank you,

You actually want the steering wheel to lock on the vehicle that is getting towed on a tow dolly so what you have now would work great since yours locks. If the front wheels didn't lock there would be damage to the side of the vehicle as it turns since the dolly would hit it.
For lighting you can use the diode kit, # RM-15267, and not have to worry about cutting into the taillight housing. This will splice into your taillight wiring to allow your tow vehicle to control the taillight assemblies of the towed vehicle. This comes with a round 6-way connector that you will install on the front of your towed vehicle and enough coiled wire to go from there to the RV.
