Ride Quality Of The Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter
Question:
Does this pivot up down side to side well when truck and trailer are on different camber such as pulling into driveways? I assume it does without binding or rubbing but I just don’t see any clearance in the pictures but the reviews are great except someone complains that it’s making a lot of noise and rattling, is that the case or would a 5th wheel Anderson ultimate hitch work better? Thank you

The Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter # CAB-C5GX1216 does have a cushion to act as a shock absorber for a smooth, safe ride, but does not actually pivot around. Both the connection point for the pin box and for the gooseneck ball have an adjustable height, which can be done by loosening the knobs and sliding the connections to the desired heights. If you don't fully tighten these knobs back in place those connection points can move inside of their housing, giving you a rattling sound.
The Andersen Ultimate Connection # AM3200 has zero shock absorbing qualities so you'll feel all of the bouncing and chucking that your trailer does. If you plan on towing a moderate to high amount then I do not recommend the Andersen. You'll have a much smoother ride using the Convert-A-Ball and with the cushioned design have an easier time when your truck and trailer are on different angles.
