2021 Ford Escape Flush Rail Roof Rack Recommendation for Roof Top Tent
Question:
I drive a 2021 Ford Escape Plug-in hybrid. I factory otder no moon roof and the cross bar kit for my roof. The weight limiit on the cross bars is 100lbs dynamic. I wish to purchase the FSR rtt that weighs 125lbs. The oem crossbars are curved. FSR rtt says the crossbars should be straight. If I buy one of your cross bar kits will the oem roof rails support the rated 165lbs?

Expert Reply:
Yes, the flush rails on the roof of your 2021 Ford Escape will be able to hold up to 165 lbs as opposed to 100 lbs that your OEM crossbars are rated for. I recommend going with the Thule WingBar Evo setup as it's easy to install, looks great, and has a dual rubber strip in the top channel that makes mounting T-Slot accessories super easy. You will need the following for this setup:
53" WingBar Evo Crossbars - Black # TH711420 or Silver # TH711400
Evo Flush Rail Feet - # TH710601
Fit Kit - # TH96RV
Lock Core Kit - # TH450400 (optional)
Typically OEM crossbars are lower quality which is why it's not uncommon to see those lower weight ratings.
