Tow Bar Recommendation for a 2010 Hyundai Elantra

Question:

I am using my 2010 Hyundai elantra as a towed car behind big trucks and some of them have pointless hitches and some have a 2 5/16 inch ball can you tell me the products that I can purchase that will accommodate either one.

My recommendation for you is a hitch mount style tow bar like the Blue Ox Aventa Tow Bar, # BX7380, or the Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar, # RM-520. These tow bars insert into the receiver of a trailer hitch, rather than attaching to a hitch ball. At this time, the coupler mount tow bars will only fit 2 inch hitch balls and would not work with a 2-5/16 inch hitch ball.

If the 2-5/16 inch balls or the ball mounts are removable, you could simply remove the ball mount from the receiver and insert the Aventa or Falcon 2 tow bar directly into the receiver or replace the 2-5/16 inch ball with a 2 inch ball. At this time there are no tow bars that can alternate between hitch mount and coupler mount.

It is best to use the same manufacturer for the tow bar and base plate kit. Otherwise, you will need an adapter to use parts from different manufacturers. If you know the manufacturer of the base plates that are on your Elantra, I would be happy to recommend an appropriate adapter if needed.
