Recommended Below-Bed Installation Kit And 5th Wheel Hitch For A 2018 Chevy Silverado 2500 6.5 Bed
Question:
I have a 2018 Chevy 2500 hd. 6.5’ bed. I use it for work, so I need the bed space if possible. Thinking about a fifth wheel camper, and Was thinking about the companion. I’m new to fifth wheels and goose neck hitches, so I’m kinda ignorant on the topic. Is the goose neck ball removable? Andy info you can provide would be awesome! Have a great evening.

A B&W Turnover Ball Hitch would be perfect for you since you're wanting to have an empty bed when not towing. The correct hitch for your 2018 Chevy Silverado 2500 6.5' bed is the # BWGNRK1016-5W. The turnover ball that's included with this hitch can be turned over and dropped back into the hitch for storage.
Since you're towing a 5th wheel trailer you'll actually remove the ball and store it separately because the Companion # BWRVK3500 you referenced is going to drop into the hitch just like the turnover ball does.
Since you have a 6.5' bed you'll actually need to use the sliding version of the Companion, part # BWRVK3400-5W. This will give you an additional 12" of clearance to allow you make tight turns without the nose of your trailer coming into contact with the cab of your Silverado.
I also recommend installing an in-bed 7-way connection like the 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness w/ 7-Pole Plug # 50-97-410. This will make hooking up to your trailer much easier and quicker.
